I just got some ram for an X31

It's a 200 Pin SODIMM Module of DDR PC2100.

I think that some machines can take PC2700 speed memory - I don't know if yours is one of those.

If you describe it in a similar way; whoever is buying can check their specs to see if it will work. This type of module is used in other laptops too, not just IBM.

You can also check here for your system to see what type of memory you have.

hope this helps :)

PC2700 should be downward compatible with PC2100 in all cases.
It is spec'd for PC2700 but it simply will run at the lower PC2100 speed.

If you could possibly ever re-use the memory in another laptop, I would buy RAM rated PC2700.
