[solved] X24 power on, but no post. Help needed !
Hi all,
My X24 just broke today. I was using it, and *lightly* slaped the left border of the screen with my hand. (I did not meant to do this)
It suddently turned off the screen, (the fan was still working), and there was no way to turn it off exept removing the battery and the AC adaptor.
When I power it up again, the screen remains off. The fan turns on for about 4 sec and a few grinding noise is heard from the HDD, and then, nothingv more happens. (no POST, no Beeps). Turns off normaly using the power button.
What I did try :
- Test with an external monitor
- Test with battery or AC adaptor only
- Disassemble the LDC panel to check connections
- Remove memory module, HDD, Wan card
I would greatly appreciate any help to try to diagnose the problem.

Welcome to the forum.
So there are no display on the external monitor either?
May be an inductor had came loose.

Thank's for your answer.
I will do more test with the external monitor.
Anyway, how could the inductor have been damaged by the gentle hit on the laptop ?
Is there a simple way to find witch one is broken ? (I have a simple multimeter and may weld)

It may have a solder joint crack already and a slight movement finally caused it to dislocate.

Il will disassemble system board to try to locate a suspect component... but I am afraid I will have to find another laptop.

The X24 is the latest and greatest of the X2x series. I have one too.
Although this is a pictures of a X30, inductors are the things in the circles:

Look for a loose one.

Re: X24 power on, but no post. Help needed !
Well, I found 5 of them, but they seem ok (tested continuity).
I inspected solders withe a magnifier, but nothing suspect.
Is Anyone thinking at any other tests I could do ?

Shine a light on the LCD screen while booting and look for a faint splash screen.
Remove the main battery then disconnect the yellow CMOS battery for few minutes. Repeat the first step. Then connect the external monitor and check again.

Hey, guess what !
I re-assembled everything, and gave a last try ... and it works
Don't know what was wrong, because I already tested all connections... anyway I hope it will work a more year or two until I replace it.
Thank's for your help and advices.
