Hi,
I need a 64MB+ graphics card for 3D programming. I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the graphics card on x31 or x40? Are there PCMCIA graphic cards that will work with x40/31 ?

Thanks a bunch!

You cannot upgrade any ThinkPad video chip.

I don't know of ANY PC Card 3D video cards at all.

There is one 3d pccard. But:
1; it won't work with the lcd; only external displays.
2; from what I remember, it's a SIS 3d chip. Probably not even as powerful as the built in i855 graphics on the x40.

The nice thing is it gives you a native dvi out though.

If this still sounds interesting, ill try and look for the name; otherwise you may be able to find it yourself.

Thanks for the very helpful info. I have decided to go with a T-42. :)
