Playing HD content on X41 Tablet

#1 Post by T41Tablet » Sat Sep 05, 2009 10:21 am

Does the onboard graphics/cpu just not have enough umph to play 720p content? I tried several media players including smplayer and codecs but I still get stuttering.

Running Windows 7 on 1.5 Ghz with 1.5GB ram. Video is standard onboard Intel GMA.

i just installed Win7 on a X41 (non tablet), and playing video on it clearly is more problematic than on XP - stuttering and many frame loss. I guess the video drivers are really bad (i installed the latest one), and you dont get the usual 'accelaration' you get on XP for basic things... I used VLC only (which has its own codecs - the same VLC on XP on same video works flawlessly), but i guess it will be the same with WMP.

I am afraid it s a dead cause, cause you cannot wait for intel to make a new driver for the i91xG

Everybody wants you to buy something new. There is no incentive to support old hardware the consumer already paid for.

Have you checked out CorePlayer? I was able to play HD video even with my Celeron 800Mhz CPU on the Fujitsu U810.

CoreAVC is supposed to be the world's fastest H.264 decoder.

I'm using it to play 1080p content on my T60 (Core Duo 1.83GHz, GMA 950). Very smooth, even full screen on a 2048x1152 external monitor. For comparison, the VLC media player stutters on moving scenes with many details.

What are you trying to play specifically? With MPC, I just fired up Pirates of the Caribbean 720p and it plays perfectly, stutter-free streaming wirelessly from my media center.

I think you miss the point.

I guess the main problem is Windows 7 and the (lack of) driver for the old integrated video... if you have no acceleration of scaling and stuff, then the performance of runing video will be just [censored].

can people tell with which OS they try? On XP, everything should be fine...

Perhaps the topic should be changed to better reflect the issue being discussed.

It's a pity problem for GMA900 owners, Google "gma900 wddm" for more information.
