Using Old DVD from X41 in X200 UltraBase

Hi

I have been an X-series users for many years upgrading to new models since X20. Just ordered an X200 with UltraBase.

Is is possible to reuse CD-RW/DVD-ROM Ultrabay Slim Drive from from X41 (FRU P/N - 13N6771) in the X200 UltraBase?

If not, anyway to ue-use the above old DVD drive? Any way to convert them into an external drive?

I think the X200 Ultrabase uses Ultrabay Slim SATA devices. So your X41 Ultrabay Slim (PATA) drives will not work in it. Alternative is just to use an USB drive.

Thanks for your reply. Anyone knows how I can re-use the DVD drive as an external device?

If you check on eBay there are some slim USB adapter from China.
Mount it on the back of the DVD and plug the cable in the USB connector.
(I have bought one, but it didn't work. Probably poor quality control).
