i'm upgrading my x41 and i found this hd samsung HS08XJC of 80gb and 5400rpm pata (ata7) and before to buy it i would know if it is compatible with my x41 to avoid 2010 disk error? it seems that doesn' need any adapter too!

That's a 71mm wide drive (2.5 inches). The X41 requires 1.8" (46mm) wide drives.

That is a two platter design with 40GB per platter. I would recommend the HS082HB instead. This is a single platter design with 80GB per platter. Even running at 4200RPM, 23% slower than HS08XJC at 5400RPM, areal density is 100% more. So the HS082HB is actually a faster drive and slower RPM makes it quieter too. They are more available also.
