AC unplugged X41 shutdown immediately.

#1 Post by sorenad » Mon Oct 05, 2009 8:07 pm

Hi,

Since a few days - I have had a very annoying problem with my X41.

The battery shows as fully charged, but when I unplug the AC, the machine shuts down immediately. Not a OS-controlled shutdown, more like the power goes as if the battery doesn't take over.

Battery is some kind of old, around 40 min runtime left in it on a full charge. Machine is running Linux (Ubuntu latest), but I have not been able to get any trace that the OS knows what goes on.

We have a lot of power-fluctuations here, so I am a little worried if that can screw something up? Mostly I am worried if its the laptop itself, or just the battery which is bad.

A new battery is on the way, but mail takes probably around 30 days to arrive here. Frequent power-cuts of India makes this problem quite annoying! :)

Cheers,
Soren

You could check the voltage on the battery with a multimeter.
X23, X40, Ubuntu
