X31 recovery cds change language

hallo
i have got the 5 recovery cds of my X31 in english version: there is some patches to change to italian or other languages the XP o.s.?
i think that ibm applications have already the option of selecting languages, but how to change the o.s. language?
if there is some patche or fix where can i find it? how i have to install it?

You can change the language for screen and keyboard. The OS will still give prompts and system messages in its native language. If you want Italian OS, you will have to look for an Italian R&R disk set.

i'm asking just because i read somewhere that maybe there is a patch, i think microsoft patch, that changes the native language in the language that you want!
isn't it? where to find it?

No, you can only change the KB and screen fonts. You may try looking for an Italian R&R disk set.

You can use the XP MUI (multilingual User Interface) to change the original English XP-version into many languages incl. Italian.
It is available on DVD, however, not easy to get.

I haven't used MUI in a while. I believe it is only used for WinXP before SP2. SP3 has multi-language built in already. But neither one change the system prompts.

but...what do you mean for "system prompts"? the DOS window?or what? i hope that for almoust all the normal use i can find tha mui application..for the blue screen error....bhe amen!!! i'll use my bad knowledge of english

Seems to be some confusion.
You can buy XP in a certain language; English, Italian, Dutch, etc.
The XP user interface does only have this one language.
If you have installed XP in the English language (English only) you can install the XP MUI.
During install you can select which additional language you want to be installed.
Under regional settings you can select the additional language and the XP user interface will change into this language.
The XP MUI is avaliable on DVD.

If you have SP3, you can change the KB and screen font to many different language without MUI. The text typed and screen font will be in the language you set. But the system prompts will remain in the native language of the OS.

Understand you can change the keyboard layout.
However, English version of XP remains English for the user.
Or do I miss something ?
Can you please show how to change the language from English to Italian so it seems for the user he's having an Italian version of XP (presume SP3 has been installed.
I still think you can only change the language by making a fresh install of a local Italian version of XP or use the XP MUI.

Assuming you have already updated to SP3:

1. In Control Panel, select Regional and Language Options icon.
2. Under Language tab, click Details button.
3. Click Add in Installed Services and follow the instruction to install language of your choice.
Then select Default input language.

This will change your KB and screen font to your settings. Applications such as MS Word will work in the selected language. Any Windows prompt will still be in the native language of your OS.

There are KB options available but most users can manage without the proper KB.
