Best Options for X41 Battery Replacement / Rebuild?

#1 Post by Mr. B » Sat Oct 10, 2009 12:56 pm

First let me say I tried a search but "battery" is a banned search term.

I recently bought an X41 (not a tablet) from a friend and it came with a third party battery that lasts 2 minutes. Yesterday I received a used four cell OEM battery from IBM (92p0998) but it only hold 60% of designed capacity.

I gutted the third party battery to explore the possibility of a battery rebuild which I've done successfully in the past. So far I have not been able to determine what type of cells these are. The printed numbers on one read 1005 70504, R72F13. Searching those numbers yielded nothing.

I just want a good battery. If there is a trusty third party replacement available I would love to know about it. Alternatively, If anyone knows what kinds of cells are in the battery I should be able to find some to rebuild a battery on the cheap. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

They are a common type of cell, but just replacing the cells is not enough.
Once power is lost to the controller chip, it might not work again.
Check past threads.

Anybody tried the batteries form DX?
