Runcore IV 1.8" IDE SSD first generation gives BSOD problems

#1 Post by Frobe70 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 5:00 pm

Just a warning, don't buy this new Runcore SSD before this bug have been sorted out.
The first generation Runcore IV IDE SSD give BSOD on X40, but will probably work fine on X41 as I have no problems with my T43.
Forcing PIO mode on IDE controller gave trouble free running, but same slow performance as a mechanical HDD. Before it crashes the X40 feels faster than my 3GHz C2D desktop computer.
T42 gave same BSOD problems, but T43 is working fine. T43 probably have the same SATA-PATA bridge as X41, and it seems like this additional translation avoid the problems with this SSD.

Runcore also had similar problems with the Mac AIR version, but this has already been solved with a new SSD hardware revision. Hopefully they will find a fix for X40 also, because this performance is addictive...

my X40 has problem, and many X41 people say they have no problem with theirs....

i tried UDMA 0 (16MB/S) and same problem, though not as frequent as with UDMA 5/6.
