1.8" microSATA to PATA for X41T?
I found this adapter, any knows if it'll fit before I bite the bullet?

Most of the 1.8 inch SATA device notably Samsung SATA SSD use the smaller connector. This adapter looks to fit the connector on 2.5 inch devices.

hmm you're right, it looks like that adapter is a normal SATA.
What if I got something like this with it?

I can't tell from the picture but the description seems to be the correct part electrically.
But bear in mind that the X41 IDE connector is on the long side. With two adapters and the 1.8 inch SATA interface on the short side, it will stick out the front. The best solution is still a ZIF PATA HDD/SSD with a Lenovo clone IDE-ZIF adapter tray.

I have that adapter (purchased from microsatacables.com) and it works well. sjthinkpader is correct that it will stick out the front of the X41. My 1.8" microsata SSD with the adapter attached is only a little shorter than a regular 2.5" drive. With a SATA to IDE adapter attached, it will definitely be longer.astroidea wrote:hmm you're right, it looks like that adapter is a normal SATA.

We have a few X200s' with SSD options. They are 1.8 inch SSD with an adapter that makes it a full size 2.5 inch.

great to hear that you have it working.virge wrote:I have that adapter (purchased from microsatacables.com) and it works well. sjthinkpader is correct that it will stick out the front of the X41. What adapters are you using to get it to PATA? Mind posting pics of how it looks like sticking out?

I have to guess Virge's setup is in the X61s, which has a full size HDD bay.

oh i should've checked his sig.
thanks for the headsup!
i think I'm gonna try to fit the hard drive where the PCMCIA slot is and fit all the converters at the hard drive bay.
I'll post pics if I get it to work.

Re: 1.8" microSATA to PATA for X41T?
out of curiosity, why not use the onboard sata with a microsata drive? it would seemingly be a better idea?
The lines are pretty easily accessibly off the board once you remove the caps that connect the ich6 to the sata to pata adapter...

Re: 1.8" microSATA to PATA for X41T?
Awesome! I didn't know someone figured out how to do that.
I'm guessing you're referring to this thread.

How did he hook up the power though? It looks like he routed it from a USB port? It looks like USB uses 5V though, but it also looks like he hooked up a 2.5" drive.
