Just got a X 31 - and a question

#1 Post by qubix » Mon Feb 14, 2005 1:49 pm

and it rox :D

i've had an 600x before and gave it to my girlfriend. The 600x is still in good shape although already 5 years old. I must admit, that overall feeling of quality of the case of the 600x is much better than x31. But it is twice as heavy

I've installed gentoo linux on it, and got rid of windows. Everything kicks-[censored], even the suspend-to-ram feature.

I've got a question to all of you TP ethusiasts out there. When the battery is full, the battery led flashes for a second, than switches of for a few miliseconds and blinks on again for a full second. What does it mean? The battery is ok i guess - i get aprox 2-3 h when the CPU/disk is used heavily and prox 3-4 h when using emacs in openbox. ACPI says that:

Code: Select all

design capacity: 47520 mWh
last full capacity: 37940 mWh
so i guess that the battery is nearly new. The laptop is a post-leasing second hand.

I believe that means it's still charging. Try leaving the A/C adapter on it overnight. Eventually LED will be solid geeen when the battery fully charged. May take a few battery cycles to get there though if the battery is new or if it hasn't been used lately.

x40's battery icon starts blinking when battery is on 90% while charging and blinking up to 100%. It could be similar or the same in x31
Let's go'n'restart :-)

oh... that would solve it then. It starts blinking when battery is about 80% at stops at 100%.

Thanks :D i'm now sure it won't blow up just because of that :D

Its a good idea when you get a enw notebook to let it charge overnight, even if it sais it's full. IBM also recommends this...

Nice choice on the X31 btw! :D
