x41 tablet still up to do some work?

#1 Post by wakeborder556 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 9:32 am

Hi, just got a x41 (1.6, 1gb ram, 40gb hd) off ebay. Looks to be in good shape. I am primarily going to use it for not taking. This thing is up for the task right? How about stuff like surfing web is it good for that? I plan on installing windows 7 and then the newest office suite with one note.

Thanks

Mitch

Your X41T has a 100MHz advantage over mine. Knowing that I can tell it will be fine.

I've been using mine for some drawing using ArtRage and Paint.net as well as some heavy hitting excel worksheets and access databases. MS OneNote 2007 works great for me and hasn't felt slow in any regard. I also have watched a few episodes of Babylon 5 full screen from Hulu.com and haven't had a problem with dropped frames.

So all in all, the X41T is still a very useable machine in today's web 2.0 world and should run just fine for you.

I got an X41T last year for note taking also.
Formatted and installed win7 - which made it run sooo much snappier than xp with all the crazy security software that comes preloaded.
It works awesome for onenote and net surfing. Best $300 I've ever spent.

I have a Q9550 @ 3.4GHz core2quad desktop that I use for more power demanding applications/gaming. But X41T feels about the same for general usage.
Don't forget to check out notebook hardware control to undervolt your CPU to get more juice out of your battery life.
Most people seem to have gotten it to run at UULV ;)
