X31 with crack near lid hinge.

This laptop is being offered for sale, but it has a hairline crack near the lid hinge. How serious a problem is this, is there any permanent fix, and should it stop you buying an x31 that is otherwise described as in excellent condition.

A little hard to see in the picture, but it looks like the crack is through the LCD bezel screwhole. I think this is a common problem with the X30/X31 machines. My X30 had cracks there. I've also seen a couple X31 machines with it as well. I replaced the bezel and it's been fine for the last year and a half. It came to me that way, so I don't know what causes it.

If you can, you should also check to see if there are any cracks in the keyboard bezel. The sides (especially near the corners of the keyboard) are especially fragile.

... also in the middle of the keyboard. Check specially the left side between the Shift and Caps Lock keys.

Yeah, pretty common issue I've learned. Mine was cracked when I got it, but it didn't seem to cause any prob's so I haven't fixed it.

Same case here! The X31 is working fine with the crack so no need to break it even more
