Accessing Rescue &Recovery?

#1 Post by RVD » Sun Nov 15, 2009 12:36 am

Hi,

I installed the trial version (release candidate) of windows 7 a few months ago. I would like to do a factory reinstall of my original windows xp pro system.

I should have the rescue partition still intact.

When the X40 boots up and I press F11 or Access IBM, I get a screen asking me to press F1 for bios or F12 for alternate booting options. There are no other options.

How can I access the rescue and recovery partition to do a fresh new install?

RVD.

As soon as you installed W7, you killed the MBR (Master Boot Record) required to boot into the R&R partition. Reload the system using the recovery CD's that you created prior to installing Windows 7 or that originally came with the machine.
