Comparision T30 to a X?
Comparison:
Whats the closest equivilant to a T30 2.0Ghtz P4M with 1 gig of memory?
My son was recently diagnosed with a learning disability. Writing is one of the major issues. Verbal communication is is off the charts though, and at 8 years old he can type almost as well as I can
So......
Looks like a laptop goes to school, currently he has a T30.
Thanks
Ron

Re: Comparision T30 to a X?
I am in a simmilar situation, in that my writing is so illegible that I cannot read it myself, so I have a t41. a x3x is probably the most reasonable balance between dependablity, power, weight, and it uses standard laptop hard drives. x4x is lighter, and a bit smaller, but they use the smaller hard drives, which can be difficult or expensive to replace. T4x is a nice price/weight point, but they have the gpu issue, which can be a huge problem if you are in school and depend on it (I went without my computer from march to agust last year). My first laptop was a toshiba portege 7020ct, and it ran fine with windows 2000, was small and light, had a decent keyboard, and I got over five hours of battery life out of a eight year old high-capacity battery.
Please report back with your choice, I am kind of curious with what you choose.

I would suggest a X41 and a SSD due to: light weight, ruggedness, modern DDR2 memory and availability of new or almost new battery.

Re: Comparision T30 to a X?
Im leaning towards an X31, I have way to much stuff left over for T30/R40 series machines to open up a new chapter in the "left over" stuff saga. Ill post and then cross post in the market place forum. Thanks for the info.

With more than a little help from a friend, got the X31 yesterday. Geez that sucker is small. Just about 8 year old sized!

Be sure to let us know how your son likes it.
My kids love using ArtRage on my X41T and they really like the small size of the machine.
