XP install from a SD card? (X41)

#1 Post by jiopsi » Mon Dec 21, 2009 10:19 am

I don't have CD-drive in my ultrabase and would like to know if somebody has done installation from SD-card? I have XP PRO SP3 CD installation media.

Did you get X41 to boot up from SD? Bios doesn't have an option for it.

My X41 didn't need a BIOS setting to boot. Once XP was on the SD card it booted right up. But if you don't have a CD you are in a bit of trouble. You'll have to copy (not unpack) the XP CD onto the card and WIN 98CD as well through another computer and then put the SD card back in the X41. Use a (USB) floppy to get into DOS (WIN 98 Startup). Unpack Win 98 then when it's running, unpack WIN XP.
What everyone should do is get hold of all the extra drives possible for these machines, then messing around with them becomes much easier.

Yeah, ordered CD/DVD to my dock. The SD trickery sounds too complicated. Thanks anyway.
