Anyway to upgrade the X41 / X41t to WWAN?

I did a quick search, found there is a white list for wifi adapters? I have an HSPA capable PCMCIA card but would rather have replace my mini pci with a wifi / wwan card. Was this even an option? Anyone have any ideas how to add WWAN to the X41 series?
