Dead X40

#1 Post by zimmie » Sun Feb 07, 2010 10:10 pm

1st post here.
Just wondering if anyone will be able to help me out.

Ive got a X40 that Ive used a while, one day it started to quit on me. no signs it just powered off.
1st i tried was used a different power adaptor, nothing. No Batt. LED NOTHING. but the adapter works fine on my R51.

Ive searched and Ive heard people saying a lot about fuse maps.

Does anyone know where i can find the schematics of this map?
If not any suggest on what it could be?

JFYI. the Laptop was used in a automotive shop for almost 2yrs.

Thank you.

I can't imagine an X40 surviving in a automotive environment for too long. The build is good but it's no "Tough Book"!
If all else fails I'd get a used motherboard or a used complete base from eBay.

Well, I also bought one from an auto mechanic and it came very damaged but still working, see here

Hopefully you will find a solution to revive your X40, wish you luck...

Sorry, but forum rules dictate that discussions on how to remove unknown supervisor passwords is not allowed. Best course of action that can be suggested is to return the motherboard to the seller and get your money back.

Sorry Ray, my mistake. I was just thinking that it would be no problem because he had bought a motherboard that didn't work and had his own also.
