Bye bye X31

No, it's not broken. I'm giving away my X31 to one of my best friends. Hopefully he will treat her well. Just "downgraded" her from a WD 320GB to a Samsung 160GB as I want to put the WD in my T43p one of these days...

I will miss the little lady, it was fun working with her all these days. It's a strange feeling, have you ever given away a TP? Maybe I'll get another one, we'll see...

I've given away a number of ThinkPads (and other computers) over the years. The recipients have always be grateful. Of course, many of them have been distributed to misc. family members who either didn't have a computer or didn't have a laptop at the time so were simply happy to have something that was portable. I actually have a T22 which will probably go that direction soon. Won't sell for anything (too old), too nice to throw out (is ThinkPad after all), and runs....so, you find a fiend with a young child and they'll happily take it off your hands!

I'm sure your friend will love the X31. It's a great machine and still very viable for basic tasks; actually somewhat more capable than my current X41, but bigger and heavier as well, so I sold mine.

So she's gone. My friend was incredibly happy and it's his first thinkpad. Even when my X31 was used he was very impressed by the quality and overall feeling of the X31. Hopefully he will like her a lot...
