X30 Wireless problem

#1 Post by garfield411 » Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:21 am

I have the above mentioned laptop. I got it a while back and decided to keep it to surf the web at work. Now the problem Im having is I can connect via ethernet to the internet, but when I try to do it wireless it shows the signal excellent and connected but I get the unable to display on IE8 and chrome. The wireless card is the High rate wireless lan mini pci adapter with modem II. In device manager under network adapters there is also a 1394 net adapter, bluetooth lan access server, and the intel pro/100 VE network. No matter what I do I cant get online. I tried letting windows do it, I tried installing the thinkvantage connection manager. Nothing works. I also tried using a linksys wireless USB adapter to no avail. I know the USB adapter works because I used on a PC. It seems something in the config is blocking the connection. Can someone please help.

I am attaching the IPconfig /all picture

A note on that adapter. It does not do WPA, so you'd be limited to WEP encryption. Also try this driver;

I did encounter a similar problem on a R51 and finally had to reinstall the Windows IP stack (XP), removed the device driver, Access Connection and reinstall them.

If you are not switching between profiles a lot, you don't need the Access Connection manager. Just use Windows Zero utility. The Access Connection manager itself is pretty stable. It is indispensable on my work computer and it must have 30 profiles.
