Most reliable, best source for X41T 8-cell?

#1 Post by thinklogic » Sun Apr 04, 2010 4:29 pm

Ebay is flooded with X41T replacement cells. Newegg has an OEM 8-cell battery for $150. Amazon is nearly as expensive.

I was wondering if any of you have a good source for *reliable* 8-cell batteries for the X41 Tablet?

I'd rather pay $70 bucks for a high quality new battery from a reliable source than play Russian Roulette with my money.

Although I have heard people have had good reports from eBay Hong Kong non-OEM sources, I would rather not. I'd rather deal with someone on the North American continent :D

I have also read some of these cheap imports can be questionable reliablity. Some are excellent quality for cheap, some are duds after a month.

So, besides forking over $100 or much more for a straight from the factory OEM X41 Tablet battery, anyone have any *reliable* very trust worthy sources for a Genuine x41T battery?

By Genuine I mean either OEM or a battery replacement outfit that has VERY high standards. I don't think $39 shipped "replacement" batteries from Hong Kong as such!
IBM Thinkpad X41T
Pentium M 758 1.5Ghz, 1.5Gbtyes of ram, OEM 18.6Gbyte 4200RPM harddrive - quick enough for my needs!
Ubuntu 10.10 - I love it!
X41T - $250. Enjoying tablet technology on a budget - priceless.

I suppose this would meet your requirement for "reliable": http://outlet.lenovo.com/accessories/ba ... y9131.html

Although they may not "new". Refurbished means that they could have a few cycles on them.

edit: Also note that some non-OEM batteries may not have exactly the same physical dimensions as the factory batteries. I found this out recently with an aftermarket 8-cell X60 battery, which when fitted to the laptop, does not allow it to be mounted on the X6 Ultrabase.

My experience is this: I bought an eight cell battery from Duracell of North America. The price was about 20 per cent lower than the price through Lenovo. I received the battery right away, but it would not accept a charge. I called them and was given authorization to return by express service, and within five or six days received a replacement which has performed flawlessly in the 13 months since.
Go figure.
