X41 Network Problem - all connectivity suddenly dies

#1 Post by kyle » Fri Apr 09, 2010 4:14 pm

Hello,

Recently this X41 has been having this strange network problem. It'll be humming along fine, and suddenly I'll apparently lose all network connectivity. It looks like the network adapters are still connected, or at least the computer thinks they are, since ipconfig still shows the same information as before. But nothing is accessible.

By not accessible, I mean:
  • In any web browser, I get no error messages or 'working offline' messages, just empty tabs/screens. If I reload an already open website, nothing happens.
  • I can't ping anything, whether it's by domain or IP.
  • Disabling network adapters and re-enabling doesn't work. I can't re-associate after I disable. This applies to both wired-ethernet and wireless. I've also tried doing this manually via ipconfig.
  • Other computers on my home network are still working fine, and re-setting my router doesn't fix the issue.
  • The only way to solve the problem is to reboot.
  • Drivers are all up to date
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... I've also seen this problem once on my new T400 at, but maybe I'll start another thread in the right forum for that.

Thanks!

If you feel its the network card go into the advance settings and slow everything down. Currently it will be on auto. Take it off.

Ad Hoc take all the way down
Data Rate take to 50%
Extended Channel mode leave alone
Power Mgmt does not seem to matter
Preamble adjust to Long Only

These setting basically ensure connections in the worst situations. Let us know what happens.
