Yes. Run compiz out-of-box. No problem. Boot is faster from win7.

I'm looking forward to install it in my X41 in the next days. I've been using several Ubuntu distros in my X40/X41 and never had a problem. Everything was running ootb. The only tricky thing was the fingerprint reader (for my X41), but after a couple of console commands got it working too.

My 0.02 cents...

Tried it a couple of days on my x41, had problems with shutdown/restart not working, nothing happened, but a relogin via guest fixed it. Also cursor disappears, can still navigate, when I close the lid :/ Everything else seems fine, fast bootup and no waiting on the wireless to get ready, i.e. mail notifications popup at startup which is nice

Just finished the instalation some minutes ago. I still have to make the fingerprint reader work, but I will leave it for tomorrow as it's late around here. The rest worked without any glitches.

Booting time is nothing exciting, but I'm still using the stock drive so I'm not expecting miracles here. I'll come back later with more details.

Cheers!

Can anyone confirm that sleep and hibernate works?

I am now trying it with a live image in a pendrive, but after sleep, the system seem to be unstable. I think it something to do with the sleep mechanism of the usb port.

Yesterday after installing the last updates, I've quickly put my X41 to sleep as I was watching TV and it woke up without any problems. If I remember I will test hibernate tonight.

Got the fingerprint to work too. All in all the installation has been very smooth, I don't like the lila colored theme that much and I'm still not used to have the minimize/maximize/close buttons on the left, but I think it's a matter of taste/getting used to.

P.S: My Ubuntu 10.04 is installed in the hard disk, never tried sleep/hibernate from the stick.

I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my X41 and most things appear to work, but sleep and hibernate don't - I get a black screen, a blinking "sleep" light, and nothing else - I have to do a hard reboot (hold down the power switch for 4 seconds then power back on) to get my machine back to life. Have people had to do anything special to get this working?

Ubuntu is installed on the hard disk as the only OS.

Did you update your system with the latests packages? I don't remember having done anything special to get it working.

Cheers

Yes - my system is completely up-to-date. Both sleep and hibernate cause the same problem. Maybe I'll try reinstalling from scratch - the system was upgraded from 9.10.

Mine was a clean install as well. Actually I always do that, I've heard more negative than positive comments about updating from previous versions. :?
