Affordable sleeve for X31?

#1 Post by wackyD » Fri May 07, 2010 1:17 pm

Anyone have any preferences or suggestings for a cheaper sleeve for a X31? I often carry it in a laptop should bag deal with padding, but sometimes find it in my shoulder bag that has padding for my back but not so much anything meant for the laptop.

I would like to find an affordable (read under $20) but decent sleeve, ideally a solid color.

Have looked on Ebay at lots of cheap things, but have not pulled the trigger.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I have both styles and they work fine. Also look for one with the zipper. Only downside is there is there is no room for the ac adapter...but it looks cool.

Office Depot something like this:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/9 ... op-Sleeve/
No printing on either of mine, and I got both on sale for $9.00. Ignore what they say they fit...its wrong. Take the X31 with you and slip it in. They offer 4 different colors but the red and back is very nice looking

I have one of these also:

It fits well with the add-on bottom battery but does not really stay closed very well.

I use a 12-inch Crumpler Gimp sleeve - just a layer of thick neoprene, with a massively thick *protected* zipper. Looks great, is pretty bomb-proof, no fraying, stays closed. I slip it in into an unobtrusive shoulder bag or a small backpack, with the power adapter and cord in a separate small bag. Works for me. Note that you can slip elastic bands over the screen edges to keep the sleeve sitting around it when you open it on your lap. They have a choice of colours, I keep my X31 in a fire-red one and my X30 in a sand/black combo so I can always keep them apart.

Amazon may have them.

The Crumpler Gimp web site is awesome. A bit pricier that whay I am hoping for, but I should probably spend a bit - I surely don't want to replace my X31 for stupidly damaging it!

I am a bit scared still on the Ebay sleeves - I have always received my Hong Kong items - but it takes a LONG time to get it, last time over two weeks for a meager savings.

Thanks for the ideas so far!

Always open to more.

Anyone have any special hookups for CF cards or is it worth having one on the system? I have thought about having a 8-16Gb just for media storage, but don't really know if it is worth it, other than for my novelty - probably better for another thread rather than hijacking my own...

Works perfectly, and for about $1 per gig its hard to beat.
