bluetooth headset and x40???

#1 Post by mrk » Wed Mar 02, 2005 6:40 pm

Hello out there,

can anyone help me to make my new Jabra 250 headset work on my x40 Windows XP SP2?

It seems to be not quite straight forward and I have read many confusing infos on the net.

What I did so far:
1. pair the headset with the computer
2. de-install the windows bluetooth driver and replace it ->
now at least I can find the bluetooth connections in network connections.

However,

It does not work
My headset does not offer any services
I can't create a PAN with my headset (not even sure whether this is necessary)
some threat suggested that I install a new version of widcomm driver - but this is for a USB bluetooth device and as you know my little pretty x40 has bluetooth on board.

Please help!
Many thanks
M

1. Turn Bluetooth On... "fn/f5"
2. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
3 Locate the "bluetooth radio" or "bluetooth devices".
4. If it says "bluetooth radio" it is using the Microsoft drivers and you need to change the drivers to WIDCOMM

I also wrote this some time ago on the thread pasted below.... Read it close and do waht it says...

I've had my X40 for just about a week... I have to say I just got my bluetooth working >the way I want.. I've done all the software updates and was miffed about bluetooth, but >then I saw on another thread somewhere that a guy got bluetooth working well. So I kept at it.. and now I'm listening to radio from my X40 over my bluetooth headset and can walk around my room here.. This is the option I really wanted with bluetooth. i really like it. ***The thing with bluetooth for me was to not allow the Microsoft SP2 to take over bluetooth.***

I got the latest drivers from IBM for bluetooth 1.4.3.4 dated 3/15/04.

In ACCESS IBM help-> view references-> use on system help-> contents -> getting connected-> wireless connections-> using bluetooth-> replacing bluetooth software... it talks about how to use the IBM software over any Microsoft software.

If you don't have "Access IBM" software still installed. You will see something like the following...
--------------------------------------------------------
1. Turn the Bluetooth power on.
2. Click Start -> Control Panel.
3. Click Performance and Maintenance and then click System.
4. Click Hardware tab, then click Device Manager. button.
5. Double Click Bluetooth Radios.
6. Double Click IBM Integrated Bluetooth II or IBM Integrated
Bluetooth III.
7. Click Driver tab, then click Update Driver... button.
8. Select Install from a list or specific location then click Next
button.
9. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install, then
click Next button.
10. Select one without the Digital Signed icon, then click Next.
11. When a pop-up window appears, click Continue Anyway button.
12. Click Finish button to close window.
---------------------------------------------------------

If you install SP2 like I did, when you first turn on Bluetooth "fn/f5", Microsoft bluetooth takes over.... This didn't seem to allow for the headset profile so I tried the IBM software and it seems to work good. A widcomm driver gets installed.

The following thread also goes over whats above with some more posts...

Also wanted to mention that I have a bluetooth mouse (AnyCom BTM-100) and it works well while I use my bluetooth headset (SE HBH-35) at the same time.

One thing about the AnyCom mouse is that it is very very small and not all that easy to use.. guess i will get used to it some how, but on a smooth surface this mouse moves while trying to click it.. it is hard to hold it perfectly still while trying to click it. But it will travel well since it is so small.

Cheers... R:)
