Can a battery "lock up" . My problem is that it shows 81 percent charged but if I disconnect the ac
the laptop shut down. And if I use the external batter charger the charging light starts out a steady
orange then 4 sec. later starts to flash. After 1hr still is flashing orange. Any ideas?

Mine exhibits the same behaviour (minus the external charger stuff, I don't have one) and, it's already 5-6 years old and I think it just has reached its end-of-life.

Time to get a new one.
