X31 Completely DEAD.

#1 Post by j0z3 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 6:02 pm

Well, my x31 is acting up.
First, It would boot to windows(xp) and after two minutes it would freeze so I had to manual shutdown pressing the powerbutton.
after that It wouldnt turn on only If I did the powerbutton 10 times and then 10 seconds.( all the following happened on baterry)
When I plugged the AC adapter on the laptop, the battery indicator light went green and then orange, I pressed the powerbutton with no luck and then I unplugged and went back to the power button trick... No luck, at all.

What can I do? I removed cmos battery, reseated ram, tried without harddrive... nothing:(

EDIT: Ive tried: Battery alone, battery+ ac adapter and AC adapter alone and none work.

I don't have access to another battery unfortunately. How can I test the battery just in case?
(There are no thinkpads in my area too)

The guy that gave me the x31( as he didint know a bit of computers or laptops) said he left it on the bed POWERED ON. for a few hours and after that the computer started having serious issues( the ones posted above). The first time I booted the machine I looked at the battery indicator and it was 99%, in two minutes it went down to 88% right when it freezed. The machine was never hot when I tried to boot it. Nothing happens and the AC adapter is fully functional.
