generic battery with x40

I just bought a generic 8-cell battery after using mine for a a couple of years.

I used it for 4 cycles, and a few strange things happened.
Energy when designed is stated to be 57.6 wh.
Energy when full was 60 wh when I plugged the battery the first time. Now, though, it dropped to 52 ( I cannot charge it over 90%...)

The second thing is - although the system reports 1.5 battery life, all of a sudden it reports 0% and the PC goes off.

I talk about Lezinn battery, model IBM - 09p0998, with Ubuntu Lucid, on x40
Are these normal to happen with a new battery? The capacity drop in Wh and the sudden discharge(1.5h to 0%) worry me.
How long should a new battery life should be? I get 3.5 h at screen set at full brightness.

The battery is defective, send it back to the seller. Try to find a real IBM battery for that machine.

So, my question is - what battery life should I expect from an 8-cell battery. Lenovo discontinued batteries for x40 and x41, so any suggestions where to buy an original one are welcome
