small black line on x31 screen

#1 Post by rpug » Sun Aug 22, 2010 7:26 pm

Hey everyone,

I have a small black line on my X31. I don't think it's a dead pixel because it is a line. I think maybe there's a piece of dirt or something in the screen. I am not sure what I can do to try to fix that. Any suggestions?

Here's a pic.. check under the word tablet:

Thanks!

When it is a black line, the line is actually on. When it is off, it will be a bright line. For some reason the row driver is stuck on.

So you're saying it's the equivalent of a stuck pixel.. except a line? :)

Yes, if the LCD is off, it will be white, i.e. the LC material is not aligned and doesn't block light.

Actually when the LCD is off I don't see anything.

That is also correct, when the backlight is off. If the backlight is on but LCD is off, then it will be all white.

Ah, good point. I suspect there is really no good way to fix this?

Replace the LCD or live with it.
