I just got an X41 tablet, running XP (TE). I have never really used a tablet PC before, so I need help troubleshooting this.
When the pen/stylus is within range of the screen, there is almost-constant tapping, or held-button behavior. For example, when moving the pen over these forums, content is being selected and highlighted all over. When I actually tap, the system is overeactive, and acts as though I have tapped like five or six times. For example, when running Get Going with Tablet PC, I tap (Next) once, and find myself at screen eight! I have tried calibrating and rebooting, which has not helped at all.
I should note that the pen is from X6*, not originally designed for X41. If this is a hardware problem, then is the digitiser or the pen faulty? Or is it more likely a software problem?

Re: unbearable phantom tapping behavior
I don't know much of anything about tablet pc's, but I imagine there is a driver that you could try reinstalling. I would recommend booting up with a linux live cd such as ubuntu, but I am not sure if it would have support for the touch functions and what not.

Re: unbearable phantom tapping behavior
The problem turned out to be with the gen. I got a replacement pen and now it works just as it should. I've entered this message by handwriting, without any trouble.
