[X41T] Intel 900 graphics driver for Windows 7?

Hi,

Yesterday i received my Kingspec SSD, so i could finally start using my ThinkPad X41 Tablet

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it, which works good, but it is missing the driver for the Intel 900 video


Anyone experienced the same and fixed it? Please tell me!

Don't waste your time trying to find a Win7 driver...they are not available. That said, the X41t runs pretty good with the native Win7 video driver. The only place I notice a problem is playing videos. The VLC player software helps work around some of those issues. I prefer Win7 in the X41t as Windows XP is just too buggy.

There is also an issue of the cursor jumping to one corner whenever it feels like it (a known issue and a fix available). With the current price on X41t's being very low they are a great value and Windows 7 makes them rock. Also don't forget they use inexpensive memory and a 2 GB Sodimm works perfect.

You may like to get http://uxstyle.com/ or patch some DLLs if you want to use something other than the stock Windows 7 non-Aero theme.

I had the same problem with my X40. No driver = no suspend/sleep. Did you try the 915m driver? I had Windows 7 installed on my SSD while it was in my NC2400. When I got the X41 tablet, I just moved the drive over and crossed my fingers. The video driver transferred no problem. I don't have Aero, but it's nice to be able to put my machine into suspend.

I know i don't get Aero, but like 'virge' says, without a graphics driver you don't have standby etc

And also video performance is very choppy.
I know i won't find a native Windows 7 driver, but at least an XP driver would be helpful

Try VLC for your movies:

Umm... IIRC, Windows 7 detected and installed the graphics driver for the X41T in my case.

I don't have access to it now, will check it out later.

I just installed Win7 in my tablet as well a couple of hours ago. Wireless, sound and video drivers were not automatically recognized. I had to stick the LAN cable in the X41T in order for windows update to pick them up. But after re-starting everything is working smoothly. I have the mentioned drives working without any issues.

Windows is working fine with just 1GB RAM, although just for normal browsing and emailing. I'm not running any heavy applications.

The standard vga driver is crappy, it also doesn't support the screen rotating

WOW...like I said "don't waste your time". I have researched this subject extensively and there are no reliable drivers.

Your comments about rotating your screen is not accurate...it works fine for me. (unless you wanted it to work automatically)

LOL This is funny, just after i send my message, Windows Update on the X41 Tablet found a driver for the Intel graphics, and now it has installed it, and the rotate button is also working

Another advantage of the Intel driver is that the X41 now supports Standby, where without the Intel driver it would only support hibernate.

And now that i have standby working, i can disable hibernate (powercfg -h off) which makes the hiberfil.sys file disappear, and gains some extra space on my 16GB Kingspec SSD

I was just reading in the German forum that some people got the same problem with the Intel drivers. Maybe I was lucky because I had the X41T directly attached to my router via LAN cable? Weird...

I'm quite happy with Win7 but will probably go back to Ubuntu, it works fine too and now that I've max out the RAM it may even work better.
