Lets asks here too, because the utility forum seems rather dead. Anyone applied this http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... &start=120 from USB-stick? The files from Linux Live CD doesn't seem to work with USB-stick, and I don't have CD-drive.

Got it working. Used Universal USB Installer http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal- ... -as-1-2-3/ and used unlisted linux (newsys linux) option to write the Linux Live CD image to USB stick.

Worked beautifully and removed the 01c9 error.
T40 -> T40 -> T40 -> T41 -> X40 -> X41 -> T40 -> X60 -> X30 -> R40 -> T61
