I cant believe there is no information on the X41yet!

I cant believe there is no information yet on the X41 in regards to real specs, model #'s or pricing. My IBM rep at Ohio state is telling me it will come real soon but he has no other information. I have surfed the web an found no real good information other than dead link on IBM's Singapore site for an X41.

Its amazing that IBM has been so tight with this information. I am anxious because I just sold my X40 and now I want to buy a new X41 or maybe a 1.5 X40 depending on what the pricing and specs turns out to be on the X41.

Here is the X40 that I might buy if I dont get a new X41: let me know what you think of this deal. Should I wait for the X41?

I'm just as anxious about the X32. I'm in the market for a new laptop this year, was looking at X31s, heard a new model was in the works, and decided to wait. Fortunately, this time around, I'm not in any particular hurry either. Still, the waiting is frustrating.

Have you had an x40 and an x31 side by side? What are the pros and cons of having each? I have never seen the x31.

Why so nervous about the X41?

Just read on asia.cnet.com and see that nothing has changed.

Same design, same mold.
Just the new Sonoma chip and the better integrated graphics.
10% faster. 10% shorter battery time as all Sonomas.

It comes on April 21st.

Espresso, I've not personally seen an X31 and an X40 side-by-side. The X40 is lighter, but only by about half-a-pound (I disregard the version with the smaller battery). The X40 has an odd-sized hard-drive that is slower than the typical notebook hard-drive, and you cannot buy the capacity that you can in the traditional format. The X40 has shared-memory graphics, which, while not a big deal for me, I do see it as somewhat of a a negative. The X31 supports compact-flash, which is a big deal for me as all my family's cameras use CF cards. The X40 supports SD cards instead, which does me little good, though SD seems on the rise as compared to CF, so IBM may be on the right path in supporting it.

Oh, and the X31 can support up to 2GB of ram. That matters to me because tend to run a lot of apps at once. I also sometimes run Oracle's database software in support of my writing. I'd *like* to be able to run a virtual machine (think VMWare). The 2GB that the X31 supports makes a difference to me, though it may not matter so much to others. Depends on what you do.
