Fair price for X20 - 2662 11U
Fair price for X20 - 2662 11U
Thinking about selling my X20 - 2662 11U and wondering what would be a fair price - I can't find any on ebay, etc.
It is in VG to Exc condition, Win 2000 and upgraded with a 40 GB HD.
Is there even a market for these?
Thanks!

It's not worth much, because the X20 is so old and 2662-11U has the most basic specs for an X20 (500MHz Celeron, 800x600 resolution). Does yours still have the original 64MB RAM or did you upgrade it? And are you including a COA for your Windows 2000 installation? The original machine only had a Win98 COA.

Re: Fair price for X20 - 2662 11U
I think the prices vary by season. A while ago, when I was selling a X22, the eBay average was $80, and so that is what I sold it for (with UltraBase, good battery, maximum memory). In the last month, I saw similar lots on eBay end for $100 or more. But X20 is significantly older: it uses older Pentium III than X22, which uses more power; it has a Rage instead of Radeon, it uses PC100 memory not PC133 (X22 can have 640 MiB max).
For best result on eBay, have a long (30 day) fixed price listing, and gradually reduce the price (every day or two by one dollar). If you want to maximize profit, sell the hard disk by itself.
Sometimes I think old ThinkPads would be good for old-videogame LAN parties (Doom, StarCraft, and the like).

I say forget eBay and sell on Craigslist. On CL there's a pretty high demand for old, very basic laptops. On eBay, the OP would have to pay shipping and fees.automobus wrote:For best result on eBay, have a long (30 day) fixed price listing, and gradually reduce the price (every day or two by one dollar). There's a couple of ways to look at it. CL is becoming a pain in the butt with all the spammers and scammers. Plus you're stuck with selling it local.
At least with ebay, you're covering the country. If you want to make the most amount of money, strip it down and part it out. Add shipping to it. Or cover part of the shipping. Whatever, you'll still make more parting it out.
