How much to pay for an X31 with X3 Ultrabase?

#1 Post by breakfast_time » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:17 am

Hey guys and girls,

Now that I've started uni, I've realised that my current laptop is a little bit too big for carrying in my backpack. Rather than going to buy a netbook, I've decided to look at an older model X-series, particularly an X31.

I've heard good things about the X3x series, but I have no idea how much I should spend. I found a Buy It Now on eBay for a 1.6GHz/512MB/30GB X31 with an Ultrabase (not many X series come with the Ultrabase on eBay Australia), for AU$130 (US$133 according to Google). Is that a good price? Too expensive? If it's too expensive, how much should I pay?

Even at $130, it's still half the price of any current netbooks, even the cheapies from Aldi. It probably performs the same as a netbook too, and has an infinitely better keyboard to boot.

Thank you everyone!

Welcome to the forum.
If that X3base includes a DVD or DVD/CDRW drive the price is quite fair, assuming the machine is fully working and also includes the AC adapter.
Those are sturdy little machines, upgradable to 2GB RAM and HD up to 320GB.
They run circles around any of today's netbooks!
Batteries might be a bit more difficult to obtain.
I'd say go for it!
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Thanks for your help, I've just sent a message to the seller about the docking station, as well as the battery life.
