I bought an X40 with no power supply and was wondering if the power supply from a T43 or the like would also work on the X40? Does anyone use a docking station with their X40? Do you like it? I suppose its handy if you want to run a cd or dvd huh?
Will an external usb powered cd drive work with the x40?
Also, what is the best cheapest hd I can get for it? I don't need anything with much room just enough for my Linux install and a few gb left for files....nothing huge by any means...What are your thoughts on ssd's? Is there an ssd that can be had for less than $50 for the x40? I know....quite a stretch huh...
Thanks
Power supply for x40 and a few other ?'s

Congrats on your X40! It's a nice little machine! But for your budget I would check the Marketplace here for a cheap Hitachi stock drive. For SSDs the budget can get tight, maybe a 16GB Kingspec? I haven't been following prices lately.
There are some ZIF drives that are faster but you would need to buy an extra adapter. Just in case you can increase your budget take a look here for a list of newer drives for your X40.
My 0,02 cents...

Re: Power supply for x40 and a few other ?'s
Yeh, I use a docking station. Pretty cheap, nowadays. It'll give you a bunch of extra ports and the ultrabay. You can get a hard drive adapter for the bay and run a sata hard drive in there. I run windows 7 off a 250 gb hard drive in the bay. Real quick to switch out the drives to use a dvd player if you want. Plug all your stuff into the base and then unsnap the laptop and off you go.
And a T43 adapter will work on an x40.
And an external cd drive will work.
