BT/Modem Card, Antenna and Screws for X31 2672 XXM?

#1 Post by ParatoOptimal » Sat Apr 16, 2011 3:48 pm

I'm looking for a BT/modem card for my X31 = 2672 XXM.
Is there already an antenna or wire or anything else required for the card in my 2672 XXM or do I need to purchase something else along with the card? Screws? Screw size?

The X31 manual lists 91P7315.
The manual lists 39T0022 (BTIV/56K) for the X32.
Which is preferable?
Are there later made cards or replacement cards I should be looking for that are better?

Thanks

I used x41 bluetooth cards in the x32s. Part number 39t0026. They should work in an x31. You can use the same modem screws that are in there when you switch out the modem. Does your indicator plate have the indicator for bluetooth? If it does, then you most likely already have an antenna in there for it. If you don't have an indicator, then you'll have to put some sort of antenna in there. You can either take apart the monitor and put an antenna in there which is kinda a pain, or do like I did and put one of those generic wifi antennas like in the link. Don't put it under the keyboard, the metal backing will block the signal. There's just enough room under the palmrest to slide it under there, just don't slide it too far or it will stick out into the battery bay. The extra wire can be coiled up in the center space under the keyboard.

Here is the smallest antenna I know of. I have used it a few times and it works fine.

The stock bluetooth antena on an X31 is under the hinge cover. The FRU is 46P2960

Thank you all.

Does the antenna pass over the hinge and go half way up the edge of the LCD display?

Do I just have to place that cover with the antenna already installed from you link over my hinge without having to route it anywhere other than to the card?
