X24 and bright bottom of lcd

#1 Post by Mack » Fri Apr 01, 2005 8:35 am

I see no one so far has any comment in my other thread about hd noise. :/ However, I have another question regarding my X24. The bottom of the screen is much brighter than the upper half. I feel it is quite annoying. Is it supposed to be like that? Should I call IBM?

Also, it is very hard to find a good angle of the screen, if I push it too much backwards or forward, it gets too bright and all colors seems to go mad.

Hi again, I've decided to stick with this lcd for now even if it is clearly brighter at the lower half compared to upper half. If I manage to get it replaced by IBM, I bet I would receive a used one with dead pixels or something else. :(

But I would appreciate any comments from other X24 owners about their screens.

If you have your X24 still in warranty you should want to replace it for good one LCD. You have right to get one better or equivallent to your current one. Dead pixels are not satisfactory. I've never heard about anyone who got old part into notebook. A friend of mine got brand new motherboard and keyboard during the warranty issue.
Let's go'n'restart :-)

Yes, it is half a year left of the warranty. I talked to IBM today, and they will send someone to pick it up. The screen is clearly brighter at the bottom, and after a week's use I just can't stand it anymore.

Hopefully it should be no problem to have it replaced, since I assume a nonuniform brightness over the screen like this counts as defective. But again, I don't think they care if they send me a new with dead pixels... :(
