Spent three solid days on this, installing every conceivable driver, almost gave up. So here's the trick for those who'd try.
By now you already know you MUST install the KB888111 to enable UAA bus drivers, before installing audio drivers. OK, but it still doesn't work.
What you need is to disregard the 22.214.171.12410 drivers that Lenovo offers. It seems that it requires a v.2.3 BIOS - that doesn't exist on the X61s (that I'm aware). It's probably offered for other supported laptop, but not the X61.
So, you must install the 126.96.36.19920 drivers (this is the 7ka114ww). This is the Win2K version. It works. God, it works. Here's a link that may work: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/p ... a114ww.exe
