X61 Botched Middleton

#1 Post by Geartooth » Thu Aug 23, 2018 8:26 am

So I managed to mess up my Middleton flash. Great. It still 1-3-3-1s, and does a Fan Spin without Screen output. How am I supposed to fix this, without a RasPi or similar? Yes, I have tried unplugging CMOS and waiting it out.

Not very effective- No disk indicator on my USB, but the fan has started spinning up- What now?

Maybe try running it again?
I assume you ran the M-update from a CD and not from within Windows?

Ran it from Windows 7. Was way too tired to deal with this. I'm looking at just buying a new board at this point.

FYI: M's BIOS can only run in 32-bit Windows, NOT in 64-bit.
But it's much better to run it from a self-booting CD.
The .ISO is included in the download.

I would suggest using a slower burn speed when making the ISO as well. My tool of choice is WinISO in Windows XP at 4x burn speed.

It's free for up to 512MB.

Update requested.
Managed to unbrick it by letting it sit in a Closet for a Week or so with no CMOS. This was only realized AFTER I ordered a new Board. Now I have 2 Boards just sitting around, thanks to me somehow [censored] up the Screen, and I've largely given up.

I still have my busted x61 with T7500 that I don't really want. Only needs screws.

Want to give it a try Geartooth?

Nah, I'm largely done with messing around with -6x as a Whole. As much as I love them they aren't great Daily Drivers, and I'm trying to use my Neglected Xiaomi Book More.

Fair enough. Now that I have my 3 drive and 10 hrs battery X250 (I seem to max out everything), my X61 (also maxxed) lives a quiet life as my room desktop computer on top of my only Data CD/DVD read/writer.

I think this year will be much quieter than last year was.
