I think the connector orientation is backwards? That can be fixed with an adapter or carefully flipping the cable. Don't count on my word, check! All I know is that my X32 had to have the connector flipped 180 degrees to work with the IPS screen, but not sure if that IPS came from an X4x or X6x.

Also, EDID issues are expected (older laptop screens did not have them, newer ones do, and new laptops expect them). Without detecting an EDID, the screen may not work. Can be fixed by flashing it (there are utilities).

In short - I have no idea how to do this, but I'm certain it should be possible one way or the other.

Whatever you do - don't go switching screens just to test; it's quite likely to damage the screen and/or motherboard if the connector pinout does not match.

For those who are looking later: The connection is indeed flipped, and there is no EDID on the X30 screen

Sadly my X61 screen is going, so possibly SXGA+ soon

Just checked the datasheet on the LP121X04. The pinout is not compatible with the X60/61, flipped or otherwise.

When flipped, it's compatible with the Tablet versions of the X60 and X61.

IIRC, the screen not having EDID is not an issue if the resolution is XGA.

In pieces: two retired but working X61Ts
RIP: 760XD 9546-U9E; X61 7676-A24; and a BOE-Hydis HV121P01-100 in failed SXGA+ mod

Great to know, thanks for checking. Lucky for all those who wanted to do the IPS mod on the X3x by taking a Tablet screen.

The web page for the original mod is still up: https://mikejmoffitt.com/articles/0018-x32ips.html. It's a great resource.
