X61s fan error

#1 Post by jt76 » Thu Jun 17, 2021 12:33 am

Hello,
i have a X60 and i replaced the motherboard with a X61s L7700.
When i power up i have a fan error message but the fan is spinning.
I replaced the whole heatsink with the one of X60 but the error is still there.
X61s motherboard has pins for the second smaller palmrest fan.
is it possible to have this error because i dont have a second fan?
If i press esc during startup the laptop boots fine and the fan is spinning.
Is it ok to use it that way?
Thanks!

1. Yes, it's due to the missing second fan.
2. Yes, it's all right to press Esc. It will get annoying in the long run.
