hi thanks for welcome. finally decided to dig it out today, thankfully the charger was with it too. fired it up and back lights of lcd display stayed on for about 5 seconds then went blank. it did make the window start-up sound so tilted it towards the sun and could see the display put in my password and it booted into windows.
actually in worse condition than I recalled, then I saw the wallpaper of my then 5yr old son. he is now 16. he would have been the last custodian of it. I suppose terraria was the last thing we used to play then the android pads and consoles took over. I would estimate it is about 20 devices ago in the household tech family tree.
few coffee rings on case lol. soft touch plastic going sticky, crack in battery case, crack on chassis by heatsink vent. I actually had that replaced once by Lenovo while it was under warranty. used the 24-7-4 super warranty thing that came with it. 4 hour repair or replacement where ever you are in the world.
seemed a bit sluggish then I remembered I put the ram in another old laptop that was in the drawer by it lol. I did put in a SSD drive when they were super expensive (over 500 quid I think). only 64gb so hardly any room for anything but made it super quick.
either way I'm not buying it's worth the rigmarole of selling it or even fixing it up. did take a few picks but can't see how to post em. it's number 125 so quite an early one. only 400 sent to UK apparently?

It's a fancy X61s.

Here is a short review.

Hopefully Bill is enjoying his Reserve Edition.

You know, I guess the x61 that forum user SureshKaimal bought from me might have been a reserve edition then.
He got it for a rather good price too, since I always wondered what that leather case around it was for hahaha. (Had no clue they were all that different than regular x61 machines.)

When a different user Monty (who does x61 backlight mods), repaired the machine en route to Suresh, he also took an interest in the leather case itself, for which that leather case was ultimately gifted to Monty.
Well then, I guess they are a keen collector's item.

Well, we all live, and we learn. I did good work on that machine making it Windows 7-ready for him around 2018.

I still have my engineering sample 9300 CPU x61, but in today's world of fancy Chinese-modded x61 machines, I doubt it is worth much, and I like having it as a museum piece now that my PC110 is starting to fall apart on me gradually.

Man ... I just realised how many years it has been since I was more active here and doing work on different Thinkpads while I was in college ... it was what helped me get through school too...

That chicken sure looks funny.

Which engineering sample T9300 and does it have an unlocked multiplier? Which CPUs do the
fancy Chinese-modded x61 machines
have? With Middleton's BIOS you can run both T9300 cores at 2.7GHz, so-called Dual IDA.
