Hi,

I've just received one of these used. It's a 7764-CTO. The Lenovo look-up of the serial number reports this screen assembly:
13N7239

From some of my reading, I get the impression that the Multitouch/MultiView screens are special. In addition to the touch surface, the LCD is brighter for outdoor use, and also may be constructed to perform better in sunlight, possibly reflective?

If so, where can I get one? An aftermarket LCD might fit physically, but I definitely want that better outdoor performance.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, if you have a recommendation of places to buy parts for Thinkpads, that would help, too. Some other parts need replacement, and I want 8Gb of RAM. I'm in Perth, Australia.

If you finger works to control the screen, you have the brightest screen, the AFFS

The Pen only is a samsung PVA screen, the finger useable uses AFFS which is essential a high end IPS screen with some unique benefits.

If you want to change screens I would suggest a machine sell, and buy another.

For spare parts, on these forums if someone wants to ship to New Zealand, or ebay. I am not sure what the max GB is on the X61, but you definitely will need 64bit OS to get anything over 3.5GB usable, and other GB is no used on 32bit

I'm pretty sure all the screens are AFFS and boehydis. The XGA pen-only screen I have is HV121X03-100 and the SXGA+ is HV121P01-101.

I just read your reply on this topic so it seems I only have the pen only screen too oh well I guess I have to order a stylus, do you know of any 3rd party one that works?

Check with Thinkpad Lover in the Market forum, he sells those pens.
