0190 Critical low battery error randomly. X61S

im using a "compatible" battery that works as it should (the laptop lasts 5/6 hours) but randomly i get 0190Critical low battery error and the laptop power offs. if i turn it on it works. what can it be? cheap battery? faulty motherboard?

my laptop is a x61s

This is most likely a battery problem, the cells of these generic battery are probably unstable. Personally i would not use the battery to prevent damage to your laptop.

I forgot to say that it happened twice only and in a cold environment, let's say 10°c... does temperature affects batteries?

Hi Konrad,

Most batteries are affected by temperature, with lower output when cold, though 10 degreec C isn't really that cold.
Your aftermarket battery might not be as good quality as an original battery.

I would personally be ok using the battery you have, and I would be looking for a replacement.

Me too! That battery cannot damage your laptop electrically. The only possibility of damage is cosmetic damage from fire, which has approximately the same probability as being hit by lightning!
