A few questions about the X61s

Firstly Hello to you all, im new here and this due to the fact that i have just purchased a Thinkpad X61s. (2012 i know lol... but i have heard good things about these machines, like built for life!)

Now for the questions:

A) Can i use any portable DVD/CD burner via USB?(basically what i mean is do i need to have the Docking station thing or will a standard usb portable DVD/cd burner work?)

B) Anyone here using a similar model with the Windows 8 DevPreview? Any issues? Performance? Same for Win7.

you should be able to do so..

as for the OS questions..
i have win 7 on various T60 and T61 thinkpads and win 7 on an X60 tablet..
they all run just fine and much better..
