hello, i bought two new original batteries for my x61s...
with my big surprise they look different from the ones i knew.
part number is 42T5260... im not able to find it in the service manual. in the package it is claimed to be compatible with my 7667s. they are 4.60 ah not 5.2 as i expected...
i dont like so much their shape, but they are fas better than my old one which lasts 40 minutes.
what do you think?

That's the part # for X60/X61 battery for a Tablet.
It's in the X60/X61 Tablet HMM page 115, made by LGC with P/N 42T5259

What's probably missing is the spacer as pictured here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Original-IB ... 0871121859
You attach that with 2 screws to the battery.
Don't know if the tablet versions also have a spacer!

I have two X60s machines.
One has an extended 5.2Ah IBM battery FRU 92P1171, ASM 92P1172, spacer FRU 92P1227
The other is a new extended 5.2Ah Lenovo battery (22++ in a red circle) with FRU 42T4776, ASM 92P1174, spacer FRU 42W3050

I corrected my first post.
Strange that it fits though, it shouldn't.

the voltage is 14.4v, it fits perfectly. it seems another shape, thats all... im a bit concerted using it.
in the lenovo box it was written:
battery pack is suitable for use only with thinkpad 1702,1703,1704,1705,2507,2508,2533,2534,7666,7667,7668,7669,7670,7671 and 8748.

the battery profile looks like the usual one with the spacer installed

On the battery are 2 numbers, a FRU P/N and an ASM number.
What are they?

I have only seen the extended battery, which needs the spacer.
Perhaps the non-extended like yours doesn't?
AFAIK that's a Chinese knock-off.
What does Battery Maximiser/Management say about it?

A knock-off is a copy, quite often illegal.

guys, you are crazy!

what you have is the REAL original battery which was made for x6xs, which does not extend from below, and which thus does not need a spacer! But this battery cannot fit a normal x6x non s.
Also it weight less.

As it does not extend below, there is actually less cells inside, and the energy is lesser.

Why it is not included in the manual in the parts list?

This is a rare bird indeed. :)

It is called the Thinkpad Reserve Edition 8-cell Battery:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_ID/product ... migr-68217

When X60s/X61s were released officially there were 3 supported battery types: 4/8-cell cylindrical (stick out from below, identical to X60/X61 batteries) and 4-cell prismatic (does not stick out from below, but smaller cells and less juice).

There was no 8-cell prismatic version originally announced. However for the release of the Reserve Edition (which is essentially an X61s in a leather case), they released this special model. And since the laptops are identical, it of course fits the X60s/X61s chassis.

Excellent and interesting purchase. The capacity is probably slightly less than the cylindrical 8-cell, but it does not stick out from the bottom (at least not as much) and does not need the silly spacer. Probably weighs less too.
