X60 Tablet blank SPD info for RAM, works otherwise

Hi all,

Just picked up a second-hand X60 tablet recently. After replacing the CCFL backlight, diffuser panels and LCD rear cover, it's working wonderfully.
However there is one strange issue: The computer cannot read SPD info from all sticks of RAM I tried. I tried different combinations of 512MB, 1GB and 2GB sticks of various speeds. The machine boots fine with any of them, and BIOS reports the correct amount of memory, but neither Memtest86 nor CPU-Z under Windows 7 can report any SPD info.
Is this normal behavior? Tried searching for a bit and didn't see any relevant results.

I have found the newer versions of CPU-ID have been unable to read memory info in most of my machines.

If I am doing something off, maybe someone can help us both!

every thinkpad (besides the SL400) i've seen is like this, so it's probably normal.
