Enable wifi 4965 AG to 4965 AGN possible ?

#1 Post by Miata » Tue Mar 06, 2012 11:04 am

Just bought an X61 with the Intel 4965 AG wifi-card (N disabled).
Although the wifi-card is running OK (perhaps a little bit hot), I prefer the much faster "N" version.
Is it possible to enable the "N" function of this card ?
It looks like Intel only supplies the AGN version and Lenovo disabled the "N" function.
By the way, just ordered the 6200 but I'm curious.

No, the 802.11n support is is disabled at hardware level.

Intel supplied 4965AG cards to fulfil contracts for 3945AGB cards, after they ceased manufacturing the 3945AGB.

You will need a modified BIOS to install the 6200 in an X61. See the Private Message (PM) that I sent you.
